Blue skies, whitewashed houses dripping in bougainvilla, and handcrafted pottery. Isn’t that the typical mental image we have of Portugal? Well, it exists in Obidos, a small village just a short drive north of Lisbon.
Walking through the narrow cobbled streets of Obidos, I felt as if I had been plunked down in the middle of a medieval film set. Filled with whitewashed houses and wrought iron balconies surrounded by medieval walls and acres of vineyards, truly a postcard setting. The entire village was covered with accents colors of yellow and blue, to keep the evil spirits away as told by our guide. Street after street of window boxes and terraces full of flowers.
Of course in the heart of every village is the church. The Church of St. Mary’s, the walls adorned with 17th Century tiles and paintings.

Wow, kind of reminds me Greece.
