In all honesty, to me Bangkok really is just another big city and filled with tuk tuk drivers and cabbies just waiting to overcharge tourists. In general, both will try to convince you that everything is far, far away when it really isn’t. “Oh, too much traffic…it will take 30 to 45 minutes…” when in reality it takes about ten. If you have a choice, always opt for the sky train or subway. So nice and soooo efficient. Imagine people exiting the subway…without people blocking their way! It’s true…people in Bangkok wait behind the yellow line until it’s clear! Yep, saw it with my own eyes. We can only dream in NYC, right?
Coming up? Even with just a couple of days to visit…the next posts will be dedicated to a few of my best experiences in Bangkok before we get to the good stuff – Myanmar and Cambodia. So stay tuned! So much to share!

That sounds very “Asian” to me, Robin…everyone being so considerate. It must be a way of life. We have a lot to learn from the East, don’t we!!!
Keep going. You know we are eager to see EVERYTHING! 😀

In that way the East is always so polite…..However the ‘over-charging’ sounds familiar. That also is a way of living. And of course the Tuk-Tuk is more ‘romantic’. Which brings me back to New York…. I heard on the news that the Major of new York wants to get rid of the horse and carriages in Central park…. not of this time…. can we shoot that man to the moon????
Looking forward to the pictures.

Wow, that is very polite. If one was to wait, or even pause, in NYC… they would be left standing on the platform watching the train leaving them behind! XoXo More!
