The first of the post-war movie houses constructed in Manhattan, the Paris Theatre opened in 1948 and is directly across from the Plaza Hotel and Central Park. The auditorium has blue velvet walls, excellent projection and sound AND popcorn for only $4.00.
The Paris Theatre is one of the very best places to see art house films in New York. As its name implies, The Paris has an affinity for playing foreign films (especially French films). Many premieres have been hosted by the Paris Theatre.
I saw Cheri starring Michelle Pfeiffer. Good movie, not great. But… I’m a Michelle Pfeiffer fan so it was a great spend of time! Not to mention experiencing this fabulous theatre! Now I’m off to the Central Park Underwear Run!
