Lucky me! I won a new lens for my Nikon D3000! Attended a class at B&H photo hosted by John Bentham, photography instructor extraordinaire. I just love his teaching style. Anyway, a portion of this class (did I mention FREE?) was an overview of a new lens called the lensbaby. So the door prize was someone in the class would walk away with this new lens! Yep, ME!
This photo was one of my very first attempts of using this lens, but I love that it provides a new way to control the depth of field by bringing one area of a photo into the sharpest focus with the “sweet spot” (as John refers to it) surrounded by blur. By bending the lens, you can move the sharp area around the photo for customized creative effects. So I tried capturing that “sweet spot” by focusing in on that bike seat, ha!
