Wouldn’t it be fun to step back in time to 1927 when the first balloon was introduced in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? While looking through some old photos on the internet it got me into a vintage/retro kinda mood. So off to the Macy’s Balloon Inflation event held right here in the hood, the Upper West Side.
Even though I arrived much earlier than last year, it was still a zoo. Patience is very much needed for this event, due to the enormous amounts of strollers, children and tired parents. I’m always amazed how good some children can be while others are complete little hellions. But I digressed…
So for a vintage/retro kinda look…
Let’s start with the De-Energizer Bunny (rut-ro – somebody’s battery was starting to die)
Spiderman is always a favorite…
And this year two balloons are taking their very first flight…
Can you imagine who/what the balloons will be 80 some years from now?

These photos are AMAZING. Looking at them, I feel like it really is 1927 which means not only are the photos vintage, so am I. Your work is so much better than some I’ve seen in magazines. You should do us all a favor and turn PRO!
