Oh…meeting the princess of Inle Lake…like out of the movies…
As we approached a simple house of wood and woven bamboo our motorboat slowed down, the engine was cut and in stepped a young boy to take us the remaining quarter of a mile to the Inle Princess Resort. Using the unique rowing style that Myanmar is famous for, which involves standing on one leg on the stern of the boat while wrapping the other leg around the the oar, in calmness and silence he rowed us to the reception entrance where a number of arms stretched out to meet and greet us. That experience alone, immediately cast a spell…the spell of the Inle Princess Resort. The beginning of four incredible warm days and four very chilly nights…
Their attention to detail…their concern to preserve their natural environment…the reason for stopping the sounds of the boat engines to preserve calm and silence for the birds, the fish, for their clients…the reason for no TV, but binoculars and books on their amazing bird-friendly natural habitat.
Their chalets are perched on stilts above the lake and built out of bamboo and teak, natural to the area…each with private terraces to take advantage of the spectacular views whether the mountains, the fields or the lake itself.
large windows to capture the evening sunset…
intimate and unique touches throughout…
Oh and that heavenly toasty bed when the temperatures drop at night and cold air flows through the cracks of the teakwood…(yes, compliments of the room boys as they sneak in late afternoon to turn on the heating blankets…)
And then there are the warm afternoons…a shower after a long day of touring…the private terrace enticing you out with a selected bottle of chardonnay from their wine cave of several thousand bottles…the soft evening breeze to dry your hair…all waiting as you slip out this screened door…
Coming up?
Out that screened door…
only to find the prince of Inle Lake…
stay tuned…

Makes me wonder how long it took him to learn to do that without falling in the lake? Amazing, just Amazing… Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see outside the screen door… XoXo
