Field trip!
Head to Grand Central Station and hop on the Metro-North’s Hudson Line and in an hour you’ve landed in an adorable, quintessential village on the Hudson River called Cold Spring. A perfect day trip from NYC.
Start by sitting on the left side of the train to catch some amazing views of the Palisades as you head north…only a short walk from the train station will land you on Main Street, a shopping mecca for antiques and small boutiques. (Note! On Tuesdays most of the shops are closed so if you’re really in the buying mood…choose another day of the week to visit.)
I’m sure there are several good restaurants, but after researching prior to arrival, the Riverview Restaurant came highly recommended. Hmm…most excellent. A glass of bubbly, cod and shrimp cakes, Caesar salad (with anchovies!) and oh so wonderful pizza bread…all delectable.
So enjoyed many of the merchants participating in “Fashion as Art” showcasing student designers and their artistic talents. Sharing Georgia Dain’s use of cat toys, a mannequin head, apron, belt and plastic bag to create this fun piece…
As well as Gianna Galazzo’s use of cat toys, hat, trim and jewelry to create this little prom queen…
Cold Spring isn’t all shopping and art…there’s some first class hiking trails to take in some impressive views, including the Catskills on a clear day! Next time!

You know what, Robin? I have learned more about NYC through you here than from any other source. Give yourself a big pat on the back! 🙂

I would LOVE to go there. Looks like it would be so much fun. I bet we could spend the whole day right there just sight seeing. Thanks so much for always sharing your visits around the hoods… XOXO

Love the displays, sounds like a nice place for a photo-hunt or a nice place to get some presents.
