travel…so…inspires…me.
the people, the culture, the artisans…and…oh…the color.
Isn’t color one of the most fulfilling elements that surround us? Not only can color attract our attention, but it can change our mood in an instant, right? And for myself…as well as many others I’m sure…color totally inspires me.
And there was color, lots of color at the compound of Casa de Las Ranas, the home of Anado McLauchlin and Richard Schultz located just a few miles from the centro of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Within their compound is the gallery, The Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery, featuring the two-person exhibition; the works of artist/owner Anado and self taught painter Diane Varney. Totally an abstracted afternoon. I’m still trying to find the words to describe...the home, the garden and the gallery…all filled with color and over the top decor.
Follow me as we explore…
Not only mosaics and stained glass scattered throughout the property…
but over 20,000 glass bottles incorporated into walls and buildings.
Of course there were plenty of skulls in various shapes and sizes…
In Mexican cultures, not only do skulls symbolize death, but rebirth as well.
Gotta love these two!
And lots of Buddhas….
Oh and speaking of Buddha….my purchase…with Anado, the artist/creator…
And of course an Anado art exhibition wouldn’t be the same without the experimental theater group Cataphilus Teatro performing throughout the carnival of people and color…adding gayety and mischief all around…
And just because I’m also inspired by black and white…here’s a few of those too!
A stimulating, exotic and very unusual afternoon and so much fun!
Now that’s how you have an exhibition opening! What an experience!

These are some of the best photos of Anado’s home and work space I have seen. Richard and Anado are some of the warmest and kindest people walking the earth. Their space of art is brilliant and personal. Anado’s art is inspiring in its freedom of the mind, and beauty. So I really appreciate and enjoy your clear representations here.

I just love how you take us along on your exciting trips! What an exhibition! Gosh-how I wish to go there myself one day. Amazing composition of colors and material. Already hard to take it all in just looking at the pictures -how overwhelming it must have been seeing it in reality.
Will start to collect multi -coloured bottles now!
