Guess what I got? My first iPhone! So I’ve been busy learning and getting it all set up…as well as taking a couple of photography courses which I’ll share more later…so it’s been busy here in my city!
So for now…sharing a little abstract love from my recent visit to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico…
Abstract…either you love it or you hate it…and I… ♥ abstract. In fact…finding something like this in the artsy community of San Miguel will make an abstract lover’s heart totally sing.
Nestled in town center you’ll find what used to be the School of Fine Arts or the Escuela de Bellas Artes, a former convent built in 1765. On the ground floor along the north wall in a space that once housed the nuns’ dining room is probably the most famous work of art in San Miguel, an unfinished (but oh so powerful) mural by David Alfaro Siqueiros.
You see…this famous Mexican muralist was recruited to teach at Bellas Artes when many of the students were G.I.’s from the United States who had returned from World War II. Unfortunately he was known for far exceeding his budget, lashing out at his critics, and often throwing temper tantrums which ultimately led to a disagreement with the school administrators. After creating so much turmoil, he stormed out leaving the mural unfinished.
What was to be a depiction of the life and death of Ignacia Allende who helped lead the movement in 1810 to free Mexico from Spain, the mural today provides so much opportunity for abstract photography and subsequently some inspiration for future abstract paintings perhaps?
Tell me how you feel about abstract…would love to know!
Enjoy your weekend!

Congratulations on your new phone! Mine is one of my favorite gadgets! Did you tried panoramic shots yet? Great.
I love and don’t love abstracts -always depending on the artist and if a painting can speak to me.
The ones you are showing us here are wonderful …I love how rhe eye travels into the depth.

I love the genre of abstract, it is a discipline in its own right, the ability to see this way though is not easy to acquire, you have illustrated many times in my visits to this blog you certainly have an eye for it. These are in keeping with what you have previously posted, some of which would look superb as poster size prints.
The acquisition of the iPhone will undoubtedly give you a host of opportunities which dare I say may never have been recorded, the beauty of the mobile phone is it is generally always with you and that particular model also has a camera worthy of shooting with.
I look forward to the next instalment.

Wonderful presentation of abstracts.
As I got older, I grew to appreciate abstracts as art (subective or objective) by the artist and the ones who see it and that’s what makes it so wonderful. Everyone sees it in their own special way and can appreciate it or not for what it is.
I can tell you one thing, off the subject, there is not one photograph or post that I don’t love or appreciate from you. Along with having the privilege of seeing and reading everything through your eyes and heart, watching you evolve has been an amazing part of my life.
Following your journeys, your heart, your soul – You have changing my life and don’t even know it! I not only learned so much about the world and people and you, but you have grounded me and given me a sense of peace and a part of my heart to surface again that I have long buried.
Since this is not my blog, I choose to say “Me and I” Ha Ha!
I love the “I’s” in your posts because I love you and want to know what you feel.
It’s OK if it’s all about you, you are a rare gem and a gift.
I love you.
