A new beginning…a blank canvas. Ok…three blank canvases.
But we’ll get to that in a second.
It’s time for a second New Moon to close out this month…known as the Black Moon. Did you know that a black moon occurs when there are two new moons within the same month…a rare celestial event that only happens approximately once every 32 months? I didn’t. So I was intrigued and wanted to know more…from an astrology perspective.
So here are some key points that I learned when I researched about our September/October new moon…
- New Moon’s are all about releasing and letting go so the new can emerge…a chance to start again, to move forward into the next phase.
- Traditionally, Black Moon’s are ultra feminine and represent a time of great awakening and clarity.
- During this New Moon, one should pay attention to what comes into one’s life as it will be a major influence in the weeks to come.
- This Black Moon is really going to give you an amazing push in the right direction if you’ve been building new ideas or projects.
- One should celebrate this New Moon by doing something really wonderful for oneself, as well as being ready for new adventures and new beginnings!
So what makes the timing all of this interesting and exciting? For the past week, I’ve been in Arizona preparing my studio for the winter months. Not only will I continue my storied objects project of photographing family and travel treasures…but my little space is so ready for an explosion of creativity and I can’t wait to share more! And it definitely starts with these three blank canvases.

A blank canvas, or three, so exciting! I’ve been checking on this New/Black moon and what’s in store as far as our signs go and it all sounds so swell, that’s the best word for it all and I’m ready to go and looking forward to new adventures and beginnings.
Happy to hear that you’ve had some time to fluff up the studio.

This came at a perfect time for me. Thanks for sharing. As you know, I’ve lost my mother, sister-in-law, and our precious cat Carmen all in the past 6 months so I am more than ready to “release and let go so the new can emerge”. I am ready to begin again and move forward into the next phase! So excited for your new beginning and can’t wait to see how your creativity will be displayed on your three blank canvases… Love and hugs. XoXo

I thought of you as I was researching and thought of all people you could use a new beginning with all of your heartaches from this past year including your recent one with the loss of Carmen. Love you and can’t wait to hug you in December!!

What’s interesting about this for me, Robin, is not so much about me but about my daughter who is on the cusp of probably the best time of her life…ever. So much to share about that but suffice it to say that it feels like it’s happening to me, that’s how big it is. I haven’t had time to think about ME for this Black Moon…but I will now pay attention.
For you…I can just imagine what is going to show up here in this space sooner or later. I wait with bated breath…..

Oh…so excited to hear that about your daughter! Will be eager to hear all about it! Always my cheerleader…thank you! xo

Cheering for you! I hope the afternoon sun hits your studio windows in a way
that brings the sunset inside ( winter sunsets – swoon) and that your heart leaps
over every hurdle as it comes. Much, much joy to you in your bright beginning,
