Can you imagine being born blind in one eye…then with the onset of Multiple Schlerosis becoming visually impaired in the good one…and then eventually having MS take control of your entire body? And yet despite it all, become an accomplished photographer and a huge part of the NYC photography scene? Well, meet Flo Fox.
Flo has taken over 100,000 photographs and has spent over 20 years printing her own images in the darkroom. Her work has been published in Life Magazine and is in the permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum and in the Smithsonian Museum to name a few. Now that she can no longer hold a camera, Flo directs her friends and attendants to take the images she desires.
What a pleasure it was to meet her and hear her speak at my monthly Professional Women Photographers meeting. Her wit was simply incredible and I walked away filled with inspiration!
