My guess is many people visiting NYC aren’t even aware of the incredible park systems along the Hudson River. Right out my back door is Riverside Park, 330 acres stretching four miles in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Filled with walking paths, bike paths, public art and summer activities galore. Free activities. Like yoga on the pier on Wednesdays evenings as the sun goes down, followed by a movie under the stars. A day filled with children and adults making kites, flying kites…all with live musical entertainment. (That’s August 17th and is so much fun, especially if you like to video!) Then there’s Amplified Sundays…danceable music accompanied by more incredible sunsets over the Hudson… This is only a taste of activities that are offered during the summer months and again, free!
There’s Model to Monument, an open air gallery in the southern part of Riverside Park. Now in it’s third year, eight sculptures have been placed throughout this section of the park as part of a five year partnership between the Arts Student League of New York and the Parks and Recreation of NYC. Every year the work of the artists gets better and better!
And then there’s the Hudson River Park…but that’s another summer post…
P.S. Yes, it’s hot here. Very, very hot.

With every post like this, Robin, I understand more and more why NYC has become your paradise. And rightly so. I love that you’re gobbling it up and sharing it all with us. I have seen more of NYC’s uniqueness from you than from anywhere else! BRAVA!

I love my vicarious walks in New York city through the eye of your camera lens. My oldest daughter took dance through high school, so this sculpture truly speaks to me. I also love the red circular sculpture in the previous photograph and how you captured it with the dogs. The juxtaposition between the modern bright red sculpture and the classic faded colored skyscraper in the corner is amazing too. Blessings, my friend!

Have I told you yet about my recurring dream that NYC is attached to San Francisco by a bridge and all I have to do is walk across and I’m in NYC? I often daydream of hopping on a plane and going for the day. Just walking down a street and sitting in the park. Your blog helps place me there.
gotham girl says
Well I’m lovin that dream! Come on over!!!
