coming up…
The contestants of the Coney Island Mermaid Parade…
But before we go there…
Let me explain a little about the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Since 1983, this parade has enabled artistic New Yorkers to find self-expression in public, as well as welcoming the start of summer. But this year, well let’s just say that bitch Sandy (hurricane) cast a very ugly spell in this area as well. There was question whether a parade would be held this year because of their destroyed headquarters and rising costs. But thankfully, the parade’s organizers were creative enough to launch a Kickstarter campaign and not only did they meet their goal of raising $100,000, but they surpassed it. Yeah for small contributions from all over the world that helped make it happen and allowing the parade to march on!

YAY for triumphs after disasters, always! And don’t we just LOVE antique cars…especially those of us who remember them from our day. HA!
gotham girl says
Agree! I don’t really care for cars in a parade, but for this atmosphere it really worked for me!
