A neighborhood block party to celebrate a birthday and a street renaming? Yep…Happy Birthday to the legendary jazz musician, Miles Davis!
And just to celebrate what would have been your 88th birthday…one of your neighbors fought long and hard and was finally awarded your long awaited birthday present…turning 77th Street on the Upper West Side into Miles Davis Way. Davis lived at 312 West 77th Street for about 25 years back in the 70’s and 80’s.
There were many neighbors, family and friends in attendance…all recalling the days that Davis loitered outside on the stoop…always greeting and chatting it up with everyone.
Wonderful music and the nicest people! I ♥ my neighborhood!

When I lived in NYC, I was on the UES and never really got to know your neighborhood. It’s only in the last few years, visiting, that I’ve occasionally stayed in hotels in that area and got to see how special it is (and MUCH more interesting than the UES 😉

My dad played the trumpet and he loved the music of Miles Davis and all Jazz made in that time.
