The third and final day of Miksang training and it was all about texture. Yeah! Love, love, love texture. And trust me, here in NYC texture is abundant!
I would absolutely recommend this class with the big caveat that you need to be open to a new way of seeing and to be able to put all the rules of conventional photography aside. If you can’t, this isn’t a training program for you.
By the end of day three exhaustion had set in, but inspiration was at an all time high. With the Miksang’s emphasis of visually capturing the every day reality, the possibilities are endless. I so enjoy that this approach to photography is very much grounded in Buddhist teachings, something that I have much interest in…perception, creativity and wisdom.
Thanks for following along on my journey!
If I had more time in my schedule I would definitely sign up for this class! Love that it’s grounded in such wise principles and love your examples of texture! Beautiful!
Mary, it really does bring about a different way of seeing! Keep your eye out for classes in Chicago. You won’t be disappointed, but as mentioned…you have to let go of conventional photography rules! Which I have this feeling that wouldn’t bother you! Love your blog!
this is intriguing and completely new for me. I’m going to further investigate. thanks for the inspiration, and happy week to you.
Please do! The website (Miksang.com) has been updated with much more information than it has ever had! Plus the book is priceless! Have fun!
OK, Ms. Robin. Get rested up and then start showing us more. I can just imagine how transforming this must have been!
It may sound hokey to some, but it really does open up your eyes to a completely new way of seeing. I feel I’ve done some of this all along, but it really provides more inspiration to keep looking! Thank you!
Robin,
Beautiful images and so fitting for your way of seeing. If I understand the basic concept I see it reinforcing the simple, the letting go of perceptions, being open and finding beauty in the ordinary of everyday. I also believe this way of non-thinking applies to B&W as well as color.
You nailed it Bill. The only thing that true Miksang teaches is that you see in color so it should be captured in color. (But I think rules are always meant to be broken, ha ha!) Thanks for visiting! Love, love, love your work!
I love your Mitsang pictures so much. Please post much more!
Thank you Katrin! I most definitely see this being incorporated more into my posts!
