Fifteen, maybe twenty years ago? No way! It seems just yesterday when my mom and I visited Taliesin West: winter home, studio and architectural campus of Frank Lloyd Wright. Fifteen minutes from my home in North Scottsdale, in the Sonoran desert in the foothills of the McDowell mountains, anyone can experience the brilliance of FLW and his ability to integrate the indoor space with the outdoors.
Along with friends from Sweden, we all enjoyed the 90 minute INSIGHTS tour. No reservations needed. Just show up at the designated times listed on their website. A delightful tour that provided an overview of Wright’s basic theories of design along with the history of the site. Our guide was very knowledgeable (and personable!) allowing plenty of time for questions as we moved between buildings joined by dramatic terraces, gardens, and walkways.
A wonderful opportunity for photographers at any level even if you go smack-dab-in-the-middle of the day! Check it out!
