…Welcome to the children’s garden located in Battery Park City, in lower Manhattan. Sponsored by the Parks Conservancy, the garden is created and maintained by the little ones in hopes of learning responsibility, team work and patience. The garden sections contained strawberries, corn, cucumbers, beans and many types of flowers – especially huge sunflowers.
During the day one could imagine the giggles, laughter and screams, but at twilight it was serene, almost magical… an oasis in my concrete jungle. Well almost…until I saw a big rat running hither and yon and how quickly my oasis became the scene of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, at least in my mind. I hate rats.

So good to hear that there are parks – filled with flowers and growing vegetables – amidst the concrete streets of the city. Wonderful image!
