Friday night several friends joined me to see the play True West about the sibling rivalry between two estranged brothers who have reconnected. Presented by Athena Theatre, the play was produced by our very own Veronique Ory (yeah!!) where she is also the co-founder of Athena. (On a side note, Veronique is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and proved her strength as a producer by having a sell-out performance throughout the weekend. And yes Gaby, I know she gets all this beauty from her dad!)
It was playing at Theatre Row, a small collection of newly renovated historic theatres in Times Square. The name comes from the numerous Off- and Off-Off-Broadway theatres that line the south side of the street. In the 1970s, it was an infamous area of brothels and peepshows, but a campaign to clean up the street was launched. Today, it is dominated by a large complex housing six small theatres including the Lion Theatre, the home for True West.
A very enjoyable evening with new friends and a nice dinner at 5 Napkin Burger! Yum Yum.
