Back in February, the Paula Cooper Gallery located in Chelsea was showing Christian Marclay’s The Clock, a 24-hour film. Yep, stood in the freezing cold outside for over an hour, but oh was it so worth the wait to see the work of a genius. (I couldn’t believe the gallery stayed open overnight so viewers could take in the entire show, but that’s MY city!)
Marclay weaves thousands of movie and TV segments specific to time and assembles the pieces into a 24 hour piece of work. So every time a watch, clock, or even a mention of time was shown in the film, it was in perfect synch with the actual time on your own watch. BRILLIANT!
Your mind is constantly working…what film was that?…who was that actor?…when did I see that movie?…I really need to see that one!…Oh, I remember seeing that movie with so and so…and of course you were astutely aware of the time!
I believe it’s currently showing in London, but if you ever get the chance to see The Clock, it is a MUST!
