What a ride. Hooked up with my biking group for their annual metric century ride. We left the Boat House Cafe in Central Park at 8:00 a.m. sharp on a rather nippy fall morning. Made our way out of Manhattan which of course was hair razing and crazy with all the Thursday morning traffic. Headed up the Westside bikeway along the Hudson River and through a portion of the Bronx and Yonkers. I loved Yonkers. Here’s a house that’s all ready for Halloween! Adorable!
Something else I like about Yonkers, their cops are fit and gorgeous. 🙂 At least all the ones I saw! A good portion of the day reminded me of riding in the woods in Loire Valley, France. There was only a touch of color and I can only imagine what it will look like a few weeks from now. Our destination was Westchester and we had lunch at an adorable little place called The Patio in Briarcliff Manor. Before the building became a restaurant it served the villlage as a town hall and firehouse circa 1914, thus the shape of the building and front windows.
Since this was an all day ride, we caught the train to take us back to Manhattan. Another adventure getting all of us and our bikes on the designated train car. We couldn’t have our bikes out in the aisle so of course I learned all about the very clever way of using your helmet to hold up your bike and keeping it out of everyone’s way, especially the conductor’s! I love how every day we learn something new!
Instead of taking the train into Grand Central Station a few of us got off at the station in Harlem and made our way (once again in some very scary traffic!) to Central Park for a very relaxing and stress-free ride back to the Gotham den. Today, every muscle in my body aches! But, what an experience!

You should try a long ride sometime!
