This time last year the 5 boro ride was miserable. Rain, rain and more rain. But, I wanted to try it one more time in hopes for better weather and my wish was granted! Perfect day for cycling on car-free streets in all five boros of NYC! Great fun with my spin gang (Tracey, Jenny and Joe) from Scottsdale. Thanks for traveling out and doing this ride with me! Long day, lots of people (like over 30,000!), many bottle-necks, but beautiful views and sights that one would never ever get to see if the streets were closed.
Even though we’re somewhat partial, of course we thought our helmet “hats” were the most original. Thanks Joe for doing such a great job with the Arizona flags and cacti! We must admit we were a little nervous about showcasing Arizona (due to new immigration bill), but they were designed way before all the craziness in Arizona even started. Most people were gracious about it as we told them… We come in peace!
Completing this ride made me think of how much I appreciate my Thursday cycling group. I know that I’ve seen way more of the 5 boros of NYC than most people who have lived here for years. So my hat is off to TWC (The Weekday Cyclists) and I’m very thankful to Google (over a year ago) for helping me locate this group! Not only have I seen many great places, but I’ve also met some really really nice people too!
