Always up for a challenge, I’m joining in on Bella Cirovic’s 52 photo projects. For 52 weeks, she provides a photo prompt and we display our work and meet others with the same shared passion. So this week is week 1 of 52! And here we go!
Her first prompt of the “new year” is about beginnings…What are you beginning right now?, she asked. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about printing my photographs. I love creating and sharing (posting to my blog) but I find that most of my work is hoarded and buried deep into my hard-drive. I recently read an article and kept a portion of it as a reminder. Unfortunately the author’s name escaped me, but what was said really opened my eyes to the importance of printing. “We need to print it, look at it, live with it, and react to it. And we need to share it. The downfall of the digital revolution is that so much of our work never makes it past the pixels.”
So with that reminder and Bella’s prompt this week, I WILL PRINT! I’m looking forward to sharing the other 51 prompts with you as well, so I hope you’ll follow along! Have you started doing something new lately? Would love to hear about it!

Now that’s a worthy project, Robin! I’ll be more than delighted to tag along for the following 51 weeks. How fun.
The only new thing I’ve been up to lately is figuring out our greeting cards for our V&V Shoppe. It’s been very rewarding and exciting. Can hardly wait till we open. 🙂
gotham girl says
Thank you Ginnie! You are doing a fabulous job with the greeting cards for V&V!! Big hugs!

That sound fun! I too have pondered on what to do with all my images. I was more in to make photography books. But just print them out and put into albums is a very good alternative. We have a computer placed centrally in our home and our screen saver show this years images and I/family often stop for a while looking at a few images and the walk to where we were headed.

Yes, I recently finished a photography book with a good friend of mine with photos from our trip to Morocco and many that I’ve taken here in NYC. I’m working on getting it up on my blog. Would love to have your feedback on it when I get it out there! I also bought one of those electronic photo frames for my parents. They LOVE it! So I understand how your computer images can be so captivating! Thank you Frida!

I too am guilty of this. My hard drive is full of photos no one sees except me. Great idea to finally get them printed, maybe I will get around to mine too!

This little fella reminds me of a game I used to play with my son at the PC. The Lemmings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmings_(video_game)
I love this picture and the project. 4 years ago I wanted to start printing my pictures, however my divorce came in between and now, I think I wait until retirement.
Recently, I bought new editing software to have more fun, and I do, so see this as a new beginning of me, taking pictures.
I scrolled down on your pictures. They are wonderful, That turkey is a ‘blast’, I think it scared the S*** out of you.

What a fabulous idea! I used to print and hang my photos—and 10 years later, there they still are. Time to begin again! Thanks for this inspiration!
