Free and open to the public, the annual Chelsea art walk is the sign we’re in the heat of the summer! The good news? It was a beautiful, cool evening…after way too many days of sweltering heat. In it’s fourth year, many of Chelsea’s galleries (about 100 of them) open their doors from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. My only complaint? There just wasn’t enough time to experience all there was to offer from 19th to 29th Street between 10th and 11th Avenue in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. My big rave? Many galleries have complimentary wine and beer…so how can one go wrong?
Just a few galleries in…I fell for Conrad Marca-Relli’s work. Marca-Relli began his journey as a painter, but is recognized as one of the American masters of collage and part of the first generation of abstract expressionism. He’s had a number of exhibits in New York City, Europe and Latin America and taught at both Yale University and the University of California at Berkely. Oh what inspiration I have for a future collage piece!
Not only do you have the art…but oh what a fabulous place to people watch…
So put a note on your 2014 summer calendar in hopes there’s a fifth annual gathering!

I love your people shots. I don’t take photos of random people very often, but I do enjoy sketching them from a distance sometimes. Blessings!

I always love my little trips around New York in your company. Among other things that guy with the multi coloured hair would be a show stopper on any street anywhere. You always know how to pick out the details.
