Pareidolia? Yep, I had to look it up. (And no…it isn’t my new year intention to learn a new word every day.)
Now we all remember as kids, looking up at the sky and seeing bunnies and all kinds of formations in the clouds. Remember? I still do and even a few days ago, looked up and saw an angel in the clouds. (I bet you have too, but may not be willing to admit it.)
Google search defines pareidolia in multiple ways…
1) seeing what appears to the individual to be a representation of a face, figure, or form in the clouds, wood grain, marble, smoke, shadows
2) the human habit of looking for the familiar in the unfamiliar
3) seeing images in patterns or objects
Google goes on to tell me that “being able to imagine pictures within other objects means one has a creative nature and a super imagination. And it isn’t unusual to begin seeing images in anything with a pattern type of surface at different stages in your life. Although it may feel like it just starts out of the blue, it’s just a subtle change in how you perceive things.” Now how cool is that? I bet now that you know that, you’re a little more receptive, huh?
So yes, I see things. And no, I haven’t seen Jesus or Mary in my cornflakes or on my toasted cheese sandwich, but you gotta see the frickin elephant in this fence post, don’t ya?
And surely you saw Old Man Winter in this past post, didn’t ya?
Yes, I have more…but I won’t bore you. So if you’re willing to admit, what have you seen lately?
