First off I just want to thank all of you who took the time to comment on the Jazz Age Lawn Party video! So appreciate everyone cheering me on! So much to learn…but I do want to incorporate more video into the mix…I think it’s a way to share a bigger picture and perhaps set the stage for my style of photography which is often more of the details. Anyway, we’ll play and see what happens!
Also…a number of you know that I’m having issues with my blog postings showing up in your in-box. I’m hoping to have that fixed soon. I’m working on a bit of a makeover to my blog…and I’m hoping this little bugaboo will get fixed too! Amazing to think it has been a year since my last blog overhaul…but I like to keep things fresh, so I’m hoping to have the new changes in sometime this week…fingers crossed!
So what might I be changing? Well for starters…for a while now I’ve wanted to add a bit more diversity…I’ve never wanted “my journal” to just showcase my travels and New York City…and that’s why at one point I had a more personal blog (the next few years)…as a place to express my feelings in losing my dad to Alzheimer’s, dipping my toes into other art forms besides photography, new photography projects…etc.etc. So this will bring more personal content…even a portfolio of my favorite photos! Of course that part (the portfolio) will take some time to build…but I’ll have the structure for it. So basically there’ll be six categories…
Travel – well that’s pretty straightforward…as well as NYC…and Arizona. But what will be added is a category for the Portfolio (as mentioned above) as well as a category for Lifestyle…sharing more on my tastes as it relates to decor, food, wine…and then a Personal section to share my art journey and topics that I have a strong passion or opinion on. That’s really it…just a few additions. Oh…and for those of you that aren’t signed up for Instagram…I’ll be showcasing those images as well. I’m a touch more playful with apps so you may see a little different approach there with my photos. Anyway, more on all of that when the time comes…
Wow…Where did a week go? So much to share from all kinds of stuff happening in my city…from taking a class on how to make a terrarium…to looking for treasures at Dead Horse Bay…and lots in-between!
So I’ll leave you with a some urban street art (above) from the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan…I get so excited when I find the remains of old posts and advertisements…filled with grunge and textures…a piece of wabi-sabi in this big art gallery called New York City!

Looking forward to the new look! I should do the same but somehow cannot find the time for it.
Love the close up of the ading posters. Do you remember the days when people used to have wallpaper ? Layer upon layer – so interesting to peel them off! I did it as a child at an aunts house – ohhhh the trouble I was in!!!
gotham girl says
That is hysterical…I can only picture you doing that! Too funny Karen! Thanks for your visit!

Hi Robin, I’m working my way from this post backward – catching up on all that’s happening with you. I am so looking forward to your updated blog. I think the structure of the categories will serve you well and provide a sound platform for your many passions. I am particularly looking forward to your Personal category as more and more, I am concerned with making healthy connections with people and much less concerned about impressing anyone. Your blog is always fresh! The feeling of newness comes, not from your adventures (though they are amazing), but from your perspective – your willingness to embrace life. Love the found art for today’s image . . . one of my favorite art forms . . . the ones we happen upon. Oh, and the portfolio is a fabulous idea – hoping you will lead me to some new favorites!

Thanks so much Donna! It’s all so much work, but oh so very rewarding! You are such an inspiration…THANK YOU!

Nice stumbling. I love the layers and textures, too.
I am with everyone on the excitement and anticipation of the updates on your page. Love the idea of the categories you’ve decided to add.
I do miss your other blog very much and, as I have said previously, I just love to watch your talents and self-awareness unfold layer by layer and get to be a part of not only your journeys but your heart and soul.
Love you, my dear Robin and love knowing what you are feeling. What interests you, what makes you happy, what makes you angry, what inspires you, who inspires you, what makes you tick.
You are truly a treasure and I am grateful for you sharing your talents, thoughts, adventures, learning experiences and self.
XOXO
