When the email came out that the ride for the week was the Awesome Views Ride and we’d take the ferry to Staten Island…I thought, Oh no! Not more potholes!
But what a ride. We started at the Boat Basin Cafe in Central Park, down the bikeway along the Hudson and picked up the Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island, over the Bayonne Bridge to Bayonne, New Jersey with a picnic lunch in Hudson County Park. Whew! Wait! There’s more! The best part!
We headed over to Liberty State Park with the most incredible views of Manhattan, on to Hoboken and up and over the George Washington Bridge back to the Upper West Side. What a ride, what views, and weather? Picture perfect! Thank you TWC for the ride of the year for me! That ride put a smile on my face for sure!
Have you done River Road yet on the other side of the GWB? I just did it twice last week; gorgeous and peaceful, lots of foliage, waterfalls, boat basins, chipmunks. You would never know that you were so close to the city.
Maybe we should do it if you haven’t already. My big race is on June 6th. Hoping to have more free time after that.
No and that is so on my list! That would be great to do together. Totally understand. I don’t even know how you do all that you do! Plus I’m in Arizona for this week and have guests the following week when I’m back in the city so the timing is perfect!
When I think of you in a bike through NYC I am at awe at what you are doing. I am so afraid of the triaffic, potholes, me falling on my ass in mid traffic!! For all of you reading this, trust me, my ass loves the pavement!!1
