Rounded the corner of my street tonight and ran smack into…are you ready for this? Foie Gras Protestors. The Animal Protection and Rescue League was standing up to duck exploitation in front of the restaurant Telepan which is across the street from the Gotham den, a restaurant I’ve only been to twice in the ten months of living here. Why? Because it is expensive. Damn expensive. Oh those lovely four courses with wine pairings… (Thanks to Tim and Susanne from Germany for the last treat!) Anyway, seems the APRL is having a little issue with Telepan even though I heard they no longer serve foie gras ravioli, and the foie gras it did serve was from a more humane farm. So go figure. I must say, humane or not, I love foie gras. Some of my best memories from France are the servings of foie gras at those 11 p.m. dinners. So there.
