Time for a field trip! About 1.5 hour train ride from Antwerp will land you in a small town full of old world charm called Bruges. You gotta like tourists if you visit this place, but very much worth the visit.
Architectural treasures abound…
The one and only brewery tour…If you wanna learn about malt and hops you gotta check out the De Halve Maan family brewery that has been active since 1856. The panoramic views are worth the visit even if you aren’t a beer drinker. (But then I don’t know why you’d be here in the first place if you aren’t.) Finish off with a taste of Brugse Zot in the open courtyard! Yummers!
After those beers (betcha can’t drink just one!) stroll down Walstraat and head to Porta, a small take-out restaurant with the best panini I’ve ever tasted…
Hmm..think he’s famous?
My favorite door in Bruges…(this door still looks crooked to me, but it’s the best I can do!)
Not sure what happens when that OPEN sign lights up…
My favorite window display…
And a field trip to Bruges just isn’t complete without handmade Belgian chocolates!
Before heading on to the Netherlands, there’s just a few more scenes from Antwerp to share. So stay tuned. Many thanks for your visits and comments. I love sharing my travels with you!

Bruges is one of my favourite places. The last time I went was a couple of years ago with my family for my birthday. We had a lot of fun 🙂
The top two photos in particular bring back memories. And on a previous visit I did make my way to the top of the brewery for the views and I am rather partial to Belgian beer.

You really can’t beat Bruges, Robin, which is why I’m delighted you made the trip from Antwerp. Astrid and I have both been there more than once but not together. I have a feeling we’ll make it a priority in 2013! Antwerp, too. I can hardly wait. And I’ll make sure we make it to the brewery! 🙂

Thanks Ginnie. Yes, the brewery is a must and so is a trip to Porta!

I just love the old world charm!!! Not a fan of hoppy beer, however, I’m sure I could find one. 🙂 Great pics! Xo
