Ahhh…what I so loved about the Museum Aan de Stroom in Antwerp, Belgium is it’s so much more than a museum. In fact, I don’t really care for museums…unless it’s photography related of course. But I once had an instructor at ICP who told me you can find inspiration for your photography in all sorts of art. And I must agree. I just don’t like walking for hours and hours and reading every little sign and looking at every little artifact under the glass. Now having said all of that…I really didn’t see any exhibits in this museum. Really, I saw so much more.
To begin, the building itself is so striking. Newly opened and inspired by a sixteenth-century warehouse, the galleries are stacked up like boxes creating a spiral tower with large expanses of glass.
The outside consists of red stone from India and just to walk in front of the building is a piece of art itself; an extraordinary mosaic square.
The rooftop is accessible for FREE and offers an incredible view over the city of Antwerp. That view alone is so worth the visit!
But the icing on the cake was passing through a chess tournament in process with some really serious players. Serious, adorable players deserving of their very own post! So stay tuned!

I love to travel the world vicariously through your camera lens. Thank you for the prayers. Blessings!

Chalk up another common bridge, Robin, because Astrid and I are NOT museum people either. It’s not that I mind them that much but just that I’d much rather spend my time outside looking at architecture (another bridge) and people. And it’s free.
You nailed this one!

Its been a while since I have been in Antwerp, I think I just put Ginnie in the car and we drive to Antwerp (one hour drive) Great pictures and we have to check out that building.
