In its sixth year, but my first, Make Music New York is a unique festival of free concerts in public spaces throughout New York City. To celebrate the first day of summer, the festival runs from 10 in the morning to 10 at night with musicians performing pretty much anywhere…on streets, sidewalks, stoops, plazas, cemeteries, parks and gardens.
Well today was hot as blue blazes here in the city, yet a need to fulfill the desire to experience a touch of this event was in order.
In Central Park, performers from the West Point Band played from rowboats on the lake around the beautiful Bethesda Mall. It all sounds so lovely, right?
Well, picture this…95 dripping degrees…a bunch of performers in rowboats clumped together floating around in a huge bowl of asparagus soup…making noise. Enjoyed by many, just not my cup of tea. However, all was not lost. I totally enjoyed capturing this…
And this…
And listening to this…
Who do you know that can play the violin and do the hula hoop at the same time in all those clothes at 95 degrees? God I love this city!

That’s waaaaaay too hot for me, too, so you and I can just go somewhere else to cool down…like the Netherlands. HA! I love that you were able to get some good “catches” along the way!

‘God I love this City. Those words could come from my mouth too. For some strange reason I love NY too. The hectic, the people. Not thinking about ‘what the neighbour might say’. Playing the violin and hula-hoop, who thinks of that. Great pictures too, great shadow on that parasol. Have a great weekend. (It might help to stay close to the refrigerator 😉 )

As you know, I love hot weather like we have here in Arizona, but that hot, humid, weather like you have in “your city” is really something else!
Great shots! MORE!!! GH
