Last night I saw the production, In The Next Room or the vibrator play in the small theatre, the Lyceum. The theatre itself is Broadway’s oldest continually operating theatre. It was built in 1903 in a very rich, lavish and heavily ornamented classical style. Just beautiful. The play was a provocative and funny story about a young doctor and his wife during the 1880’s when hysteria was a real diagnosis and the women were commonly treated with electrical stimulating machines to ease their condition. That’s all I’m telling you, your imagination can take it from there! Very entertaining!
I had heard about that ‘condition’ and ‘treatment’ somewhere and now it’s a play? Hysterical…oops, I better watch it or someone will be after me with an electro stimulating machine…hmmm
Looks like fun
in New York. Reminds me Paris. The town never sleeps:)
