Well not really, but almost! I bought a fabulous pair of vintage glasses at a cool shop in the East Village. They turned me on to an optical place in Chinatown with great prices. So off I went to get a deal. As I emerged from the subway I was met with the aroma of fish and knew I was definitely in the right place. Right smack in the middle of Chinatown and I made my way slowly to Mott Street. It’s always busy, but this particular area was chaos. Store front after store front of fish, vegetables, dried goods, you name it. The fish were so fresh they were still flapping and the frogs were still ribbiting!
Nestled among all the busy storefronts is a sizable eye glass business, Optical 88. I must say that my initial service impression was outstanding and you just can’t beat the prices. I’ll head back down in in a day to pick them up. Note I said DAY and not WEEK like most places.

Love, love , love Chinatown. I don’t get down there as much as I used to. I’m glad you found that optical place, they are great! I used to go all the time with a friend of mine when he needed new glasses; he wanted my opinion on the frames, ha!
